Sorry to start with a cliché but in our dog training history…the third time is the charm. REHAB Dog Training saved our dog Riley, a two- year old terrier mix that we rescued as a puppy.
From the beginning we knew training was a necessity for Riley. Our first trainer was a respected local individual who was prompt and efficient with us but did little to work with the dog. The second was “hands on” with Riley but did not engage or “train” us in the process.
After a biting incident and several runs at much bigger dogs we were at out wits end and on what to do. That’s when we found REHAB Dog Training. They saw the need to train the dog and their owners in a kind and caring manner. Riley responded in a positive manner to the training almost immediately. The goals established and the exercises for the dog were simple and easy to execute. They were very effective in achieving great results.
REHAB’s techniques and support have given us great confidence in Riley’s behavior. A positive behavior that is noticeable to us, our friends and neighbors. This was all achieved in a minimal number of sessions and re-enforced in the weekly “dog walks” planned and overseen by REHAB.
We love the results of working with REHAB and would highly recommend their services to anyone looking for dog training. Their results were incredible and well worth it.

I am writing this with a BUNCH of gratitude. It seems many people all over know my beloved dog Finn. He's a truly great dog.

Yesterday we took him to the DeBella Dog Walk and honestly it was almost comical just listening to people talk about him as we walked by, or stopping us to comment & ask questions. "OMG Look at that dog, he is so calm. he's so well behaved, he walks so great on the leash, he listens, he doesn't pull" The questions..."How do you get him to do that? "and "I wish my dog acted like that.

My honest answer
:
1. We work on it. We train him on purpose (Generally speaking wishing doesn't work).

2. We do not use a harness (unless you want to tow your car or win a pulling contest I don't see the purpose - at least not on the bullies).

3. THE MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL,
I seek advice and I listen to the advice given.
Basically it’s like this... "LAURA! Help me with....." and then I DO WHAT I'M TOLD...and wa-la. We have Finn.

The point of all of this, All dogs have the ability to be fabulous, well-mannered, well-behaved, good-walking dogs....ya just gotta ASK REHAB Dog Training (Laura) for help, LISTEN and apply it.

Thank you Laura, from every fiber of my being for helping us teach Finn. He is such a happy dog with a happy life and I know it’s because of what you've taught us.

We asked Laura to help us with our 1-year-old pup, Starla, as she was having issues with leash walking and also was exhibiting fearful behavior upon meeting new people. After only two lessons, and diligent practice on Starla (and "Mom and Dad's") part, she is like a different dog! She is much more confident and understanding of commands. She is eager to learn, and clearly had fun with Laura. She even greeted a new person inside my home at her last lesson with calm, confident behavior. I highly recommend REHAB Dog Training to anyone who needs help with basic training or more advanced issues. Laura tailors her lessons to your dog's needs and if a technique isn't suited to your pup, she will use one that is. She chooses the healthiest, safest means of direction for your individual dog to get the best results and keep your best friend happy and healthy. Great experience!

Last Chance Ranch Animal Rescue, referred my wife and me to REHAB Dog Training from where we adopted Rooby, a pit mix. At the time, Rooby was an affectionate, active dog with very protective house behaviors. She would bark frantically at anyone approaching the house and as a result of this bit the mailman. For fear of having to give up Rooby, we called Last Chance Ranch. Enter Laura Sobolusky of REHAB Dog Training. Laura was, and is, extremely professional. She has been courteous, prompt, respectful and very knowledgeable. More than training our dog, Laura has trained us to train our dog. We would highly recommend her services to any dog owner and would be happy to speak to anyone considering Laura’s services.

Lucy, an “independent” Shiba Inu, was the only dog in our family until, just a few short weeks before a planned vacation; we adopted Petunia, a friendly Maltese/Poodle mix. Because of Lucy’s personality, we were concerned about having another dog in our home but Laura, who was familiar with Lucy and her quirky personality, and who is able to quickly gain insight into a dog’s character, knew that Petunia would be the perfect dog to join our family. So Laura would then have two dogs to take care of during our family vacation. I was confident that while we were away both dogs would be safe and cared for well but in addition to that, they would be comfortable and content. It is obvious that both Lucy and Petunia feel that staying with Laura is like being in their second home; it just doesn’t get any better than that for my dogs!

In the early months of 2018, I knew my dog needed training. Things had gotten out of hand and he was completely out of control. See, from the time we got him in 2014 at 5 months old, Roux had the run of the house. He was allowed on the furniture, he slept in my bed at night and he had free access to the house when I left. At the time, we thought those were the ways to show him love. Give him everything that he wanted, and then some. When he was young, we excused it all away. “Oh, he’s just a puppy, he’ll grow out of it” or “all dogs walk like this on a leash”. To some extent, that last statement is accurate.

As he got older, he got more challenging to walk since he was getting bigger and stronger. He was getting taller and was now able to “counter surf” and get into the kitchen trash can. I began taking steps to never leave food on the counter or, at the very least, push it all the way to the back where he couldn’t reach it. That didn’t always work.  Then, the walking on a leash. Did I say walking? I meant the pulling, yanking and darting all over the place. I tried every harness, “springy” leash and all the treats I could buy. None of it worked.

In the fall of 2017, I knew things had to change. See, my 76 year old mother was walking him one day while no one else was home. On this day, he saw a dog and he ran towards it, pulling my mom to the ground. She had extensive injuries and needed surgery.  She came home after spending a week in the hospital. Pale and bruised. I had to do something. I watched training videos on YouTube, reading books and applying it all. Every “purely positive” trainer I could find, I would watch their videos and buy their books. I spent months doing all of this. Countless hours spent practicing it all. The thing is, Roux wasn’t getting any better. He was still going crazy on walks, he would tear up pillows or anything else you can imagine. After knocking down a female jogger in July of 2018, I knew we needed a professional.

Looked up trainers online, asked friends and read reviews. During my search I came across REHAB Dog Training and read the reviews. I went to her website, read about her style of training and read her testimonials. September of 2018 was my first appointment with Laura and we haven’t looked back since. The first moment she stepped into our house, we saw improvements with Roux. She taught us all the tools needed to live a life of peace and calmness with Roux.  He now walks with a loose leash with anyone who walks him. He’s learned impulse control and how to stay in a relaxed mindset during challenging situations. He now has the freedom to be off-leash and run through the trails by my house. I have Laura to thank for that. She explained everything thoroughly and in a way that made sense to us. Hiring her was a life changer and I don’t know where I’d be if it weren’t for her guidance and teaching. I would recommend her to anyone that needs their dog or puppy trained. I look forward to seeing you at her Sunday Dog Walks!
